Hope

I went home to Bartica this Christmas. On the Boxing Day I took a walk by the beach and for the first time visited The Hope Monument that was built in remembrance of the persons that died in the Bartica Massacre of 2008.

Just say it

People usually find it hard to say how they feel. I'm no exception. The thought of genuinely expressing myself gives me headaches but this past week I've learnt that sometimes you just have to get things off your chest. Not just for the benefit of you but for others as well, and especially for the people you care about.

Bear in mind that there are certain ways of dealing with certain situations. Don't go telling your boss off in front of all your workmates or express your undying love for someone who barely knows you (it's a long shot. Do at your own risk). A strategic one on one can work miracles.

I took a leap of faith and confronted a friend recently after the friendship had gone a bit sour over some personal issues and now I feel awesome. The situation hasn't been much different since but getting that weight off my chest was worth the talk. Another thing to bear in mind, there are some people who will never change no matter what.

PS: My phone was stolen recently, along with a bunch of my treasured photos. The sadness hasn't worn off as yet.

WI Won!

No, I didn't spell WI wrong. It means West Indies. As in the West Indies cricket team. I've never posted about cricket before which is kind of strange seeing as most, if not all, Guyanese LOVE cricket.

Yesterday, the West Indies Cricket Team won the ICC World T20 Series in Sri Lanka.

So proud of these guys! Rally round the West Indies!
